From September 2012-December 2013, I worked full-time as a Society Manager at the Institute for Professional Education, which is the non-profit division of a medical publishing company, Mary Ann Liebert Inc. publishers. While there I worked primarily with the Academy of Women's Health (AWH) and the Rosalind Franklin Society (RFS). I also worked closely with the Managing Editor of the Journal of Women's Health (JWH), which is the official journal of the Academy of Women's Health. I was responsible for managing, organizing and facilitating internal and external communications, event planning and education outreach. Additionally, I ensured successful marketing communications, budget planning, brand messaging, website content, society growth and development, fundraising and membership planning. I was solely responsible for writing content, editing and managing AcademyofWomensHealth.org, and various social media accounts. I updated the bi-weekly blog, the MP Post, featuring interviews from Mitzi Perdue on controversies, news, and the latest updates in women's health. Additionally, I assisted in securing attendees, partners, supporters and exhibitors for the Annual Congress on Women's Health, co-presented by the Academy of Women's Health, a continuing medical education (CME) conference attended by nearly 1,000 healthcare providers annually. Using my online store and high-end retail experience, I created online stores on Zazzle.com for the Academy of Women's Health and the Rosalind Franklin Society for members and supporters to purchase items such as mugs, stamps, cell phone cases, and more. Utilizing my public relations and journalism skills, I wrote and edited the news section several times a week, which included relevant issues such as a recent Journal of Women's Health study that was prominently featured on the website, and resulted in nationwide media coverage.
